Located within the Thornleigh industrial precinct, in the Upper North Shore of Sydney, the project incorporates retaining an existing 55-place warehouse style childcare centre and the adaptive re-use of an adjacent industrial building into an interesting childcare space for an additional 79 children. The priority was to maximise the number of children that can be accommodated, make the building as efficient as possible, while also ensuring that it’s the best design outcome for the children who are going to be attending the centre. Overall, we are pleased to see an outcome that merge the needs of the children and all members involved in the development to create a great facility that enhances both the existing and proposed spaces while sensitively addressing its industrial neighbours.
